Modified Reiki principles and Clariti Reiki code of conduct
In addition to the direct and tangible Reiki practices, Mikao Usui also promoted a set of general living guidelines along with his system of energetic peace and wellness. These ideals are reprinted in modified from (so are to state the ideals in the positive, rather than in the negative) below:
- Just for today, be aware of anger.
- Just for today, be aware of worry.
- Honor your parents, teachers, elders.
- Experience your living honestly.
- Show compassion and gratitude for all life.
In addition to these guidelines, as a professional Reiki practitioner, it is my duty to maintain and adhere to a set of conventions for the sake of honesty, sincerity, and professionalism. As such, my guidelines for professional Reiki practice are outlined below:
- I shall resolve to maintain respect for all energy and or Reiki practitioners regardless of lineage or affiliation. I shall resolve to refrain from negativity in thought, word, and/or action toward other practitioners regardless of background or affiliation.
- I shall resolve to encourage an environment of peace, awareness, and cooperation through all professional endeavors including but not limited to client / practitioner, and teacher / student interactions.
- I shall resolve to encourage all clients and students to grow in peacefulness and to heal themselves; I shall resolve to refrain from promoting dependency.
- I shall resolve to maintain mutual respect for every student and client. I shall refrain from engaging in any illegal and or immoral activity with clients and students. I shall refrain from any known erogenous contact or communication with students and clients. I shall resolve refrain from use of known intoxicants (including alcohol) during all professional endeavors.
- I shall resolve to promote truth and honesty through all professional practices and endeavors.
- I shall refrain from suggestion or insinuation of any medical diagnosis or prognosis. I shall refrain from suggesting or prescribing any subsistence for medical purposes. I shall reinforce the understanding that Reiki is not a substitute for conventional medical or psychological treatment. I shall refrain from interfering with known treatment from a licensed medical professional.
- I shall resolve to communicate how one may be affected by Reiki treatments and/or utilization of the system.
